Programme Director,
Organisation: Temwa, Location: Temwa Office, Mzuzu, Duration of work; 5 days a
week, Closing date: 29th June, start date: 10th august

You are responsible for the development , management and administration of
Temwa’s humanitarian and development programmes in Northern Malawi, Temwa has
recently received funding from the Big lottery Founda
tion so our operations
will be growing and the organisation is in need of increasing capacity at the
directors level in order to manage the existing and new projects concurrently,
you will oversee the annual operation plans and budgets.  Alongside our
current Programme Director you will provide overall supervision and management
of the Temwa team in Malawi, including strategic direction, ensuring high
quality liaison with key stakeholders, community members and donors visiting
Malawi.  As well as building Temwa’s work in northern Malawi in
partnership with the govt, other NGOs and the community to ensure delivery of
high quality programmes. You will be required to review, update implement and
monitor our ten yrs strategic plan.  Temwa is looking
 for a strong and dynamic leader to undertake this role

Supervision and team Management – ensuring staff are working in a structural
and ordered fashion, working towards set annual objectives and targets,
maintaining our appraisal system and ensuring it is being adhered to, Following
correct HR procedures, maintaining staff files and regular reviews, alongside a
clear management structure, management of senior implementation team

Oversight of Key Projects – responsibility for quarterly financial and project
reports to donors, Ensuring that work plans are being followed, goals and
targets are being met for key projects, Following M&E strategy for key
projects, Following Programme strategies of key projects, financial management
– working with the current programme Director and the finance and admin manager
to ensure strict financial control is in place, Overseeing the annual end year
audit with the senior management team, Reporting to the Managing Director with
monthly financial reports, Monthly financial meetings and review of budgets,
Following the Finance and admin manual

Communication –
Providing monthly projects and financial reports to the Managing Director and
boards of Trustees, Key stakeholder communication with the team in country,
attending quarterly Malawi trustee meetings and other board meetings as needed,
Monthly management conference calls with Managing director, Meetings with
current and potential partner organisations, Following the communications
strategy
Funding applications – Writing funding application for large and small scale
donors, Research of grants to be accessed in country, Leading the team when
writing funding applications, Liaising with current and potential donors in
country and in the UK, Facilitating project design with the team

Implementation of Strategic plan – Maintaining oversight of strategic plan
implementation, Working with the team to ensure organisation remains on course
to achieve key objectives within given time frame, Maintain and update
organisations’ plan on annual basis reporting on progress of plan to UK
Director

Experience and qualifications required – Experience of NGO management essential,
Project and people management experience essential, financial management
experience essential, It and word processing skills essential, Diploma, degree
or masters in International Development, Public Heath or a related field
essential, Experience of handling medium sized institutional grants essential,
