The Mental Health Centre Penetanguishene, Provincial Forensic Programs Division, is now recruiting for fourteen dedicated individuals to provide medical and psychiatric nursing care to an all male forensic patient population who are classified by the courts as high risk individuals in a maximum secure facility and within specialized interdisciplinary programs. Four unilingual positions, ten bilingual positions.

Salary: $34.49 – $41.70 per hour
Hours: Full time – as per schedule
Qualifications: Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario;
knowledge of:
* medical and psychiatric nursing theory and practice;
* specialized needs of patients on the assigned program; various resources available to meet patient needs;
* medication practices, psychiatric medications, side effects, and current treatment modalities; leadership principles;
* relevant sections of legislation, i.e.: Mental Health Act, Regulated Health Professions Act, Health Care Consent Act, Criminal Code of Canada and professional standards; forensic psychiatry and security;
* computer software packages to input data for a variety of facility wide tools.Position also requires interpersonal, verbal and written, leadership, analytical and organizational skills as well as coordination, dexterity and the physical ability and skill to performing life saving nursing interventions, i.e.: cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Bilingual positions require proficiency in English and French.
