Ecojustice is seeking a talented and energetic Direct Response Manager to join our Philanthropy team.

About this role:
Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy the successful candidate will help grow our donor base using a variety of tools including direct mail, telephone, online platforms and other forms of solicitations and appeals. We are looking for someone who is experienced with data and has an instinct for supporter engagement, who can help sustain and build Ecojustice’s supporter base with a view to the long term.

The Direct Response Manager will have the following responsibilities:

Develop and manage Ecojustice’s annual direct mail and phone solicitation program
• Collaborate with communications, philanthropy, and program staff to identify key issues and appeal opportunities
• Coordinate, monitor and evaluate services provided by external direct mail consultant, and phone solicitation consultant
• Deliver and prepare and segment donor data files for all mailings, phone programs and list trade requests
• Identify and test new outreach and donor recruitment opportunities and, in consultation with the Director of Philanthropy, initiate any changes to existing suppliers
• In collaboration with the Donor Relations Coordinator, develop and implement a plan for recognizing and stewarding donors

Co-develop donor communication materials
• Collaborate on topics and production of fundraising communications with Communications staff including monthly and quarterly newsletters, annual report and various online materials
• Seek out, develop and collaborate on opportunities that aim to closely align communications and fundraising

Monitor and evaluate success of annual giving program
• Analyse response rates and giving patterns of direct response and phone solicitation programs
• Provide statistical analysis and identify and initiate (in consultation with the Director of Philanthropy) new opportunities

Prepare budgets for and monitor and report on the annual program.

This is a full time role based in the Vancouver office of Ecojustice.

About you:
You are a very experienced professional with the following qualifications:
• You are deeply passionate about environmental and social justice and understand the challenge and complexity of Ecojustice’s work.
• Post secondary degree in a related discipline such as communications, fundraising, marketing, business administration and/or combination of equivalent education and experience
• Minimum of 3 years fundraising with some supervisory experience, including direct donor contact
• Thorough knowledge of privacy regulations as they relate to adhering to mass appeals distribution and what is required to manage donor preferences
• Direct mail program coordination experience including copy editing, design, planning, campaign troubleshooting, mail house and supplier liaison; data processing and management skill including preparing analysis using raw data; including excellent program and project coordination skills. Able to see projects through to completion
• Thorough understanding of fundraising and marketing strategies used to recruit and retain donors and donor loyalties
• Experienced in the preparation and management of comprehensive budgets for managing acquisition, renewal, online, stewardship and monthly giving programs
• Team player/builder who displays initiative, creativity, tact, diplomacy and sensitivity to understanding various ways of communicating messages to diverse and varied audiences
• Excellent problem solving and solution focused skills requiring multitasking on competing priorities and clear articulate and concise communications style
