Your
opportunity to make a difference
This unique
opportunity as Senior Child Rights Policy Advisor will empower the successful
candidate to be a major influencer on one of World Vision Australia’s core
values as a child-focused organisation. This position offers the chance to be
the subject matter expert on such a critical topic and to consult senior
leaders within WVA to grow the organisation’s child rights capability and
agility, as well as the opportunity to represent WVA externally as the expert
on Child Rights.
You will research,
analyse and identify feasible public policy solutions – whether international
or domestic – to address the most complex public policy problems for the most
vulnerable children and their families. The policy influence work you produce
will also help position World Vision as a child-focused, credible,
authoritative and influential on key aspects of global poverty, development and
humanitarian policy issues.

They have high level
analytical and public policy development skills, ability to persuasively
influence internal and external stakeholders based on sound and logical
reasoning and argumentation, and can handle media as a spokesperson on Child
Rights.
Points to
demonstrate would include:
- Experience
in policy development related to child rights or child protection,
humanitarian or international institutions, or associated analysis of
rights based frameworks and protection - Experience
in the application of child rights to humanitarian and/or development
contexts in the field - Working
knowledge of the international child rights mechanisms and their key
products and knowledge of public policy development processes by
international NGOs - Experience
in providing well-reasoned advice under tight time constraints where
needed - Masters
level tertiary education in child rights, human rights, international law,
public policy, international development or relevant - Strong
reputation, relationships and legitimacy in the advocacy priority issue/s
.

This role is a
permanent position operating in a full-time capacity and will be based at our
head office in Burwood East, Victoria.
