Eiffel Scholarships for International Students

The
French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs offers Eiffel scholarships
for international students annually. These scholarships are awarded for
pursuing a master degree at French host higher education institutions and a
PhD through a thesis joint supervision or co-tutorship with a foreign
higher education institution partner.
It
helps to shape the future foreign decision-makers of t

he private and public
sectors, in priority areas of study, and encourages applications from emerging
countries at master’s level, and from emerging and industrialized countries at
PhD level.

The
Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Programme was established by the French Ministry
of Foreign Affairs and International Development to enable French higher
education establishments to attract top foreign students to enrol in their
master’s and PhD courses.
When
pre-selecting non-French-speaking candidates, establishments must make sure
that their language skills meet the requirements of the relevant course of
study.
Course
Level
:
French higher education institutions which submit candidates for Eiffel
program, undertake to register them:
  • In
    courses leading to a master’s degree;
  • Either
    in an engineering degree
  • Either
    a doctorate in the framework of a cotutelle or joint supervision of a
    thesis with a foreign higher education institution partner.

The four major fields of study concerned by the Eiffel scholarships are:
  • The
    right ;
  • Economics
    and management;
  • Engineering
    sciences for the master’s level, sciences in the broad sense for the
    doctorate level (engineering sciences, exact sciences: mathematics,
    physics, chemistry and life sciences, nano and biotechnologies, earth
    sciences, of the Universe and the Environment, Science and Information
    Technologies and communication);
  • The
    political sciences.
Scholarship
Award: 
  • Master
    level: Eiffel fellows receive a monthly allowance of 1.181 € (€ 1,031
    maintenance allowance + € 150 monthly allowance), to which is added the
    direct support of several services:
    -An international transport ticket routing – repatriation;
    -Social protection Campus France for over 28s, the complementary health
    (mutual) for – 28 years old;
    -Cultural activities: They may also benefit, under certain conditions,
    from additional housing.
  • PhD
    level: Eiffel fellows receive a monthly allowance of € 1,400, which is
    added the direct support of several services:
    -An international transport ticket – repatriation (for students who would
    make multiple trips, one return trip will be taken care of);
    -Social protection Campus France for over 28s, the complementary health
    (mutual) for – 28 years old;
    -Cultural activities

Eligibility:
  • Nationality:
    this program is reserved for candidates of foreign nationality. The
    Bi-national candidates, one of whom is French, are not eligible.
  • Age:
    Master level, the candidate must be at least 30 years old on the committee
    date Selection ; that is, born the same day or after March 12, 1988. At
    the doctoral level, the candidate must be 35 years old or older on the
    date of the selection; that is, born the same day or after the 12th of
    March, 1983.
  • Origin
    of the files: only the candidatures transmitted by the establishments
    French are admissible. The latter undertake to register the winners in the
    training for which they have been selected. Applications submitted by
    other ways are not acceptable. In addition, a candidate presented by an
    institution will be rejected.
  • The
    formations concerned: are eligible candidates likely to integrate training
    leading to a master’s degree, including in school engineers, and doctoral
    candidates. The French formations relocated to abroad are not concerned.
    Training as part of an apprenticeship or professionalization contract are
    not eligible for the Eiffel Scholarships.
  • Cumulation
    of scholarships: foreign students already benefiting from a scholarship
    French Government under another program, at the time of the filing of the
    application, are not eligible, even if it is a fellowship that does not
    take into charge as social coverage.
  • Eiffel
    Master scholarship: the candidacy of a student whose file has not been
    retained during a previous selection is not admissible, even if this
    application is submitted by a different institution or in another field
    studies. The candidacy of a student who has already benefited from an
    Eiffel scholarship Master level is not acceptable for this same level.
  • Eiffel
    Doctoral Scholarship: institutions can present for a scholarship doctorate
    a candidate who has already benefited from an Eiffel scholarship at the
    master’s level. A candidate who has already benefited from an Eiffel
    scholarship as part of his doctorate is not not eligible once again for an
    Eiffel grant. The candidacy of a student whose the folder was not selected
    during a previous selection for this level is not not admissible, even if
    submitted by an institution different or in another field of study.
  • Language
    level: institutions that pre-select non-qualified candidates Francophones
    must ensure that their language level is adequate with the level required
    by the training. Students studying abroad have priority over those who
    already reside in France.
Nationality: International
students (except French students) are eligible to apply for these scholarships.

candidates, establishments must make sure that their language skills meet the
requirements of the relevant course of study.
How
to Apply
:
  • French
    higher education establishments pre-select candidates for the Eiffel
    Programme from among the foreign students to whom they have offered a
    place on a course of study.
  •  The
    establishments complete and submit applications for these candidates
    online.1 They must make sure that the applications fulfil the Programme
    criteria. The total length of the course and any compulsory work
    placements in France 1 There is a different application form for each
    branch of the Programme. Page 5 of 6 or abroad must be clearly mentioned
    in the application. Each establishment can nominate no more than 40
    candidates per field of study for a master’s scholarship. Incomplete
    applications will be rejected.
  • The
    establishments must send to Campus France, by 6 January 2017, by recorded
    post with acknowledgement of receipt, a list of the applications submitted
    online. This document must bear the establishment’s stamp and the
    signature of the head of the establishment (university president or
    principal), or his or her representative.
