Clinton Development Background:
The
Clinton Development Initiative (CDI) develops and operates agribusiness
projects that empower smallholder farmers to increase their economic potential.
In Malawi, Tanzania, and Rwanda, CDI integrates commercial farms and other
agribusinesses with smallholder outreach to increase smallholder farmers’
access to local markets and enable them to participate equitably

in those
markets. CDI’s mode puts farmers first by increasing their access to knowledge,
inputs, services, and markets to improve their crop yields and increase and
diversify their incomes. CDI works in close collaboration with governments,
nongovernmental organizations, social investors, and farmer organizations.

Position
Description:
The
Workshop Supervisor & Farm Mechanic will primarily be responsible for the
repair and maintenance of motor vehicles, motorcycles, tractors and all farm
equipment in addition to any restorative or innovative adjustments to equipment
needed to carry out commercial farm work. The Workshop Supervisor & Farm
Mechanic will supervise and manage the Farm workshop, ensuring it is clean,
efficient, and effective at all times. Secondary roles shall include driving
tractors and farm machinery when required.  The Workshop Supervisor &
Farm Mechanic shall supervise Farm Tractor Drivers and other workshop Staff.
Key
essential functions of the position shall include the following:
  • To
    do mechanical repairs:
  • Workshop
    and workshop equipment management and maintenance
  • Responsible
    for occupational health and safety, safe operation of all vehicles/
    equipment/tractors on  the farm
  • Workshop
    Staff management:
Required
Expertise, skills& Experience:
  • Minimum
    Required: Secondary School Diploma, ;
  • Diploma
    in Mechanics;
  • Clean
    driving license for truck and tractors;
  • 5
    years in a similar position, with minimum 3 years working in a farm
    setting; experience managing staff; preferred: 5-10 years in a similar
    position
  • Knowledge
    of Tractors and Farm Machinery
  • Practice
    and knowledge of all levels of material maintenance and repair.
  • High
    levels of integrity and fast thinker
  • Good
    physical condition
  • Hands
    on experience in operating and repairing farm equipment and vehicles.
  • Able
    to communicate in English and Kinyarwanda and to understand and execute
    complex instructions.
This
position requires the employee to be flexible in terms of working hours, the
nature of farm work means that occasionally the driver will be required to
longer hours, early mornings, or evenings
