In
the summer of 2016, Earth Day Canada will launch its EarthPLAY program,
producing a series of POP UP Adventure Playgrounds using “loose parts” to
promote self-directed outdoor play for children, ages 3 – 14, in parks and
green spaces across the GTHA. While the children build their own playground out
of cardboard boxes, duct tape, rope, cable spools, tires, old suitcases and
other odds and ends, EDC will engage parents and community organizations in
conversation about the benefits of play and play provision. For more
information about the POP UP Adventure Play program, see the pilot
project conducted by http://www.PLAYbynature.org, now integrated into
EDC.
