PURPOSE
OF POSITION:
Community
initiative and community level case management support
SCOPE
OF ROLE:Case Management activities in Mahama camp including identification,
case documentation and follow up and monitoring.
KEY
AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
  • Identify
    and document vulnerable children including separated and unaccompanied
    minors.
  • Document
    the separated and unaccompanied children according to the standard family
    tracing and reunification procedures and in line with Save the Children’s
    child safeguarding policy.
  • Conduct
    community awareness on identification of vulnerable children and the
    process of registration of separated/unaccompanied children including
    family tracing.
  • Conduct
    community consultation on temporary care arrangements of
    separated/unaccompanied children.
  • Refer
    cases with specific needs to the competent service providers, follow up
    and document referred cases.
  • Ensure
    that urgent and challenging cases are immediately discussed with direct
    supervisors.
  • Conduct
    follow-up  visits on temporary care arrangements of cases
  • Actively
    conduct tracing of families in collaboration with the community members
    and local authorities, and in coordination with other relevant
    humanitarian actors
  • Conduct
    follow up  visits of children reunified with their relatives
  • Report
    any violation of the child safe guarding policy of Save the Children.
  • Work
    with cultural sensitivity and respect the dignity of vulnerable children
    and families and members of the host communities at all times.
  • Conduct
    focus group discussions with beneficiaries (parents and children) on the
    delivery of activities. Registers information collected through
    appropriate reporting tools and report this information to CP officer/
    Case management officer.

QUALIFICATIONS
AND EXPERIENCE
  • Senior
    secondary level.
  • 1
    year experience working with children and community mobilization
  • Written/spoken
    English
  • Ability
    to communicate in English and French and Kinyarwanda through verbal and
    written communication
  • Good 
    technical understanding of child protection and community based approaches
  • Computer
    knowledge
  • Strong
    interpersonal and communication skills
  • Be
    able to prioritize tasks
  • Able
    to work to tight deadlines and under pressure.
  • Experience
    with community development, working with children and schools;
  • Very
    good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The
    ability to think critically and to recommend good solutions to problems.
  • Strong
    Organizational skills;
  • Ability
    to conduct outreach at the community level;
  • Knowledge
    of the local language, English language skill is an advantage
