Terms of reference for a National
Expert in charge of capacity development in conflict resolution
Eglise
Evangélique des Amis au Rwanda (EEAR) is searching for a qualified, competent
and dedicated trainer who will be responsible for training in conflict
resolution for refugee camps in Rwanda.
Duties
and responsibilities:

The
National Expert, under supervision ofFriends Peace House Coordinator,is
responsible for:
  • Design
    gender and culture sensitive modules for conflict resolution in camps
    fordifferent target groups, such as camp committees, conflict resolution
    committees, youth and elders involved in conflict solving
  • Plan,
    organize and implement trainings with the target groups in camps
  • Mentor
    participants of trainings in practicing conflict solving
  • Develop
    an activity plan with its corresponding budget
  • Share
    observations and lessons learnt with partners involved in refugee programs
  • Monitor
    and evaluate trainings (with direct beneficiaries and indirect
    beneficiaries, especially women and youth), lessons learnt, and adjust
    modules accordingly
  • knowledge
    management and sharing of conflict resolution resourceswith refugee camps
    and EEAR
Qualifications,
Work Experience and Competencies:
  • Bachelor’s
    degree in Social Sciences, Pedagogy, Peace Studies
  • Proven
    knowledge of methods of conflict resolution and transformation including
    mediation
  • Proven
    knowledge of monitoring the impact of peace work
  • At
    least five (5) years’ professional experience in participatory training
    facilitation preferably in the Great Lakes Region
  • At
    least two (2) years’ experience in project management
  • At
    least three (3) years’ experience as a trainer of peace building methods,
    with a focus on community mediators
Essential
Knowledge
:
  • Fluent
    written and oral knowledge of Kinyarwanda, French and English; knowledge
    of Kiswahili would be an asset
  • Knowledge
    of Do No Harm
  • Very
    good working knowledge of ICT technologies and computer applications (MS
    Office)
  • Knowledge
    of/experience in planning, monitoring and evaluation of capacity development
    activities
  • Knowledge
    of mediation and trauma healing skills
Highly
valued
:
  • Knowledge
    of/experience in working with refugee populations
  • Knowledge
    of/experience in working in the field of violence against women and gender
  • Direct
    experience in humanitarian work (especially in the Great Lakes region)
  • Knowledge
    of/experience in working Peaceorganizations
  • Being
    a good team player
Other:
  • The
    position is based in Nyamagabe District, Southern Province
  • The
    national expert requires a high degree of self-management
