Objectives of
the role:

The SME Banking
Expert will work in collaboration with the Key Expert team to provide the
required technical assistance to the financial sector operations in the Southern
Africa region, specifically in Mozambique, Zambia, Malawi and Botswana. The
role will include (but is not limited to) the implementation of the 4 main
project components which include the assurance of the smooth flow of the Global
Loan Allocation Request from the EIB’s Financial Intermediary borrowers, the
provision of targeted capacity building to financial intermediaries, the
organisation or various M/SME support actions aimed at raising the level of
financial literacy and management capacity and, finally, the creation and
implementation of extensive training curricula and launch training programmes
for financial intermediaries and M/SMEs.

project:

36 months

Qualifications
and Skills:

·        
University
degree, preferably in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Banking, or
related field or equivalent professional experience.
·        
Candidates
should preferably have management or operational credit management experience
from a banking/microfinance institution of minimum 4 years.
·        
Candidates
must speak fluent Portuguese.

General
Professional Experience:

·        
Good
management skills, preferably in the financial and credit analysis function in
a credit department / corporate lending department of a microfinance
institution with a minimum of 4 years in management.
·        
Good
writing and communication skills.
·        
Ability
to use the advanced functions of MS office to create reports and customised spreadsheets for
financial analysis purposes and database management reporting purposes.

Specific Professional
Experience:

·        
Minimum
of 4 years professional experience within an SME finance provider, with
specific focus on credit and financial analysis, risk management, and SME
lending, non-performing loan management, identification of key lending risks, and
participation in the drafting of loan contracts to mitigate and control
identified risks.
·        
Commercial
lending experience with a credit analysis focus. Experience of EIB financial
facilities would be an added advantage.
·        
Good
analytical skills in economic and M/ MSE project finance planning and
implementation (market and financial analysis risk analysis techniques, NPL
policy and ability to implement computer based models to analyse balance
sheets, calculate key financial ratios, and make proactive recommendations in
drafting loan documentation and security arrangements).
·        
Practical
experience and proven track record in organising and delivering professional
bank training programmes and development of curricula and training materials.
·        
Good
analytical skills in economic and MSE project finance planning and
implementation, fully conversant with market and financial analysis risk
analysis techniques, and ability to implement computer based models to analyse
balance sheets and calculate key financial ratios for lending analysis.
