worldwide. In Tanzania Oxfam works with more than 46 civil society
organisations in Shinyanga, Simiyu, Geita, Mwanza, Dodoma, Morogoro, Tanga,
Lindi, Iringa, Mtwara, Kagera, Manyara and Arusha to implement three change
goals that have been identified in the country strategy for 2011/2015,
namely Economic Justice – Rural Livelihoods (including smallholder,
pastoralist and women’s livelihoods), Gender Justice – equality for women
ending violence against wo

men and to promote women’s leadership and
economic empowerment and Social Justice centred in active citizenship and
effective governance for quality essential services.

We are currently looking for a dynamic and knowledgeable Donor Accountant
to enhance the impact of our work in Tanzania.

Roles and Responsibilities:
In this role you will Report to the Finance Manager and you will be
responsible for the following:
• Prepare financial and donor reports on all restricted contracts as per
stipulated timelines in the grant agreements.
• Give narrative guidance to management and partners on grant spend in
accordance with agreed budgets.
• Review all partner reports received and conduct detailed analysis of
partner transactions for eligibility. Upon review, ensure that all
revisions are done accordingly.
• Work closely with the funding coordinator and partner support officer in
contributing to the management of partners.
• Conduct capacity building and training of partners/ team members jointly
with Finance Manager on donor compliance as well as donor policies and
procedures.
• Custodian of record keeping of all grant/ project assets for donor
reporting and audit reports
• Provide specialised financial support in relation to the effective
attainment of programme objectives and to work with contract managers in
the compilation of timely, accurate, quality financial reports for a range
of donors.

Skills and competencies:
A candidate envisaged for this role will be
• Qualified Accountant or equivalent with minimum work experience of 3
years preferably from NGO in a similar or equivalent position.
• Strong knowledge and experience of donor financial reporting requirements
in particular with EU, DFID, ECHO, UN, CIDA, NORAD and SIDA.
• Strong information systems background with proven experience of working
with accounting software and data input systems.
• A strong working knowledge of MS Office is needed, especially MS Excel,
MS Word and MS PowerPoint.
• High level of numeracy, accuracy and analytical skills with good
understanding of audit methodologies.
• Deadline driven individual who can work under the pressure of demanding
timeline.
• Proactive individual who takes initiative and who pays attention to
detail.
• Strong communication, interpersonal skills and ability to influence
others.
• Responsible, flexible, adaptable and good team player.
This position requires a person with ability to travel frequently to field
offices.
