School Garden Co-ordinator
We are searching for a school garden co-ordinator to work about 9 – 12
hours a week at Trafalgar Elementary School in Vancouver. Winter
months would be about 9 hours a week and spring would be about 12
hours a week.
Trafalgar Elem
entary has an extensive school garden with over 12 food
beds and an orchard area. 500 students rotate through the garden
learning to grow and harvest their own food and create their own
nutritional snacks.
Brendon Young a HRN and urban farmer heads has led the program at
Trafalgar School for over four years and is looking for a partner in
crime to help co-ordinate and deliver garden activities.
Responsibilities will include:
• Garden planning & maintenance
• Lesson planning
• Delivering engaging lessons in the garden to teachers and students
• Engaging and co-ordinating teacher’s classes to rotate through the garden
• Social media of garden activities
• Liasing with principal, teachers and PAC
• Purchasing materials for garden projects.
• Co-ordinating fundraising activities for the garden
We are ideally looking for someone with teaching and urban gardening
or nutrition experience and a passion for working with kids.
Fundraising experience would be a bonus
