Rwanda Biomedical
Center (RBC) was created by the law no54/2010 of 25th January 2011 establishing
Rwanda Biomedical center (RBC) and determining its mission, organization and
functioning. The vision of the RBC is to become a Center of Excellence for the
prosperity of the country, ensuring quality health service delivery, education
and research. It has a mission of promoting quality affordable and sustainable
health care services to the population through innovative and evidence based
interventions and practices guided by ethics and professionalism. To achieve
its mission, RBC is looking for suitably qualified candidates to fill the
following vacant positions:

 

Position
1: Director Behaviour Change Communication and Health Promotion Unit (1)

Responsibilities:

  • Lead
    the behavior and social change communication programming in Rwanda
  • Lead
    the development and implementation of comprehensive evidence and results-based
    strategic behavior and social change communication interventions and plans
    that facilitate social transformation and behavior change.
  • She/he
    will analyze health-related research reports and identify gaps that can be
    filled with behavior and social change communication initiatives.
  • Establish
    and create a forum where organizations will be required to present their
    BCC programmes and products for technical input.
  • Provide
    technical guidance and facilitate the development of appropriate
    evidence-based communication strategies, plans and initiatives and
    facilitate regular review of all BCC policies, strategic plans and
    initiatives
  • Provide
    recommendations on strategic approaches, channels, messages and all health
    communication products to all BCC implementing agencies to conform to
    recent theories, developments and national needs.
  • Lead
    the monitoring, documentation and evaluation of communication, advocacy
    and social mobilization strategies and activities
  • Provide
    guidance and capacity building to various institutions in health BCC in
    the country

Qualification

Be a Rwandan by
nationality. Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communication, or
Public health with specialization in Health Promotion, 5 years of proven record
of working in the area of Behavior Change Communication or health promotion.
Experience of working on health and social issues would an asset. Perfect
knowledge of English and Kinyarwanda, Candidates with a Master’s Degree in
Communication, Public Health/Epidemiology and Health Promotion are encouraged
to apply.

 

Position
2: Behavior Change Communication Officer (2)

Duties and
Responsibilities

  • Ensure
    that the behavior change communication needs in all health programs within
    the Rwanda Biomedical Centre and the Ministry of Health are addressed
    through close collaboration with relevant sub-groups, technical working
    groups and task-forces.
  • Develop
    and implement internal strategies for Behaviour Change Communication and
    Health Promotion within the RHCC division
  • Regular
    contact with media to ensure placement of IEC/BCC campaigns on different
    health issues in print, electronic and social media.
  • Prepare
    monthly, quarterly and annual reports on the implementation and
    performance of ongoing campaigns and community outreach activities
  • Dissemination
    of best practices and lessons learnt directly linked to health promotion
    and BCC interventions
  • Manage
    all activities related to IEC/BCC and Community Mobilisation within the
    RHCC division
  • Be
    responsible of monitoring and evaluating the appropriate and timely dissemination
    of all IEC/BCC materials to different audiences and participate in the
    evaluation of their impact.
  • Participate
    in the development and production of all IEC/BCC materials
  • In
    collaboration with pertinent departments, generate a quarterly plan/schedule
    for sensitizing the community.

Qualifications:

Be a Rwandan by
nationality. Possess Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Communication or
public health with specialization in Health Promotion, 3 years of experience.
The Behavior Change Communication Officer works under the direct supervision of
the Director of the BCC unit.
