Akilah
is searching for an energetic candidate for the position of English
Instructor.
This individual will be responsible for teaching English at
Akilah’s Bugesera campus.

Reporting
to the Academic Director, the English instructor will play a crucial role in
ensuring smooth and effective delivery of Akilah’s English curriculum. He/She
will be responsible for teaching English to 60 post secondary school learners.
He/She will also be responsible for providing ongoing feedback on the
effectiveness of the English curriculum. In addition, English teacher will also
aid in delivery of computer based learning methods on campus.

Key
Responsibilities:
  • Deliver
    3 hour English class to 60 learners every Monday to Friday
  • Invigilate
    and assess weekly and monthly exams
  • Co-ordinate
    with Kigali campus to obtain materials in a timely manner
  • Supervise
    use of computer based learning modules
  • Provide
    students with objective and well-timed feedback
  • Update
    all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district
    policies and school regulations
  • Prepare
    required reports on students and activities
  • Manage
    student behavior and discipline by establishing and enforcing Akilah rules
    and procedures
  • Perform
    other duties including but not limited to counseling students with
    academic challenged and providing student encouragement
Qualifications:
  • 2-3
    years of experience in a teaching/training position
  • Bachelors
    degree in English related field
  • Proficiency
    with Microsoft Office applications especially Word, Excel, Outlook and
    databases
  • Demonstrated
    passion for working with young women, empowering them through education,
    an unshakable belief in their potential, and a commitment to the mission
    of Akilah
