Evergreen Project Manager, Community Development Job Vacancy in Toronto, Ontario

Evergreen is seeking a Project Manager to support Evergreen’s community engagement and development projects at Evergreen Brick Works, across the Greater Toronto Area, and through National program offerings. As a key member of Evergreen’s Community Development team, the successful candidate will provide management and support for a diverse array of projects, with a strong focus on community food initiatives, and other urban sustainability issues affecting high-needs communities.

Reporting to Manager, Community Development, you will:
• Coordinate and deliver diverse community based program deliverables, with an emphasis on food and garden programming at Evergreen Brick Works, and across the GTA, including Evergreen’s Community Food Gardens and Community Kitchen Program;
• Support outreach initiatives with a focus on underserved communities across the GTA, including the coordination of Evergreen’s Neighbourhood Engagement Committee;
• Develop, maintain and strengthen key partnerships (social service agencies, health centres, and other agencies/non-profits) and pursue new strategic partnerships, both local and National in scope;
• Prepare project plans, work-back schedules, evaluations and reports to funders;
• Prepare and monitor project budgets, and ensure timely delivery within budget;
• Train and manage Community Development Interns, Volunteers and project coordinators as needed;
• Contribute to Community Development program planning and development, including the development of Evergreen’s Community Engagement Strategy;
• Assist in the identification of new funders, and the preparation of funding budgets and proposals for Evergreen’s Community Development Initiatives
• Develop community outreach and program communication/promotion tools including newsletters, brochures, web site updates/blogs, videos etc;
• Develop food/garden based resources, and inform food based curriculum in Evergreen’s schools and camps program;
• Participate in outreach and networking activities including presentations, meetings and community/professional events.
• Perform other duties as assigned

You have:
• Minimum post-secondary diploma/degree in education, social work, community development, food security or related discipline
• At least 3 years of relevant work experience including experience working with underserved populations and/or in Canada’s Social Services sector
• Knowledge and experience in food systems thinking, urban agriculture and/or community health/nutrition programming
• Experience in Youth Engagement and/or internship training and support an asset
• Experience working in collaboration with individuals and communities with a diverse array of backgrounds, including youth, seniors, newcomers, and people from a variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds;
• Solid commitment to environmental and social justice, and strong understanding of issues of employment, food security, and access to environmental movements within diverse communities
• Proven ability to develop new programs that respond to community needs and are financially sustainable
• Experience writing successful proposals and reports to/for a range of funders, including corporations, foundations, and government departments and agencies.
• Demonstrated people-management skills
• Bilingual: English and French, an asset
• Acceptable PRC

Rate of Pay: $35,000-$40,000/yr (pro-rated for 8 months)
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, occasional evening and weekend work
