NUS – Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (Dean’s Office) Manager, Education Job Vacancy in Singapore

The Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (YLLSoM) is an integral member of the National University Health System (NUHS). Dedicated to creating synergies to advance NUHS’ tripartite mission of excellence in clinical care, translational clinical research and education, its Education Division invites suitably qualified candidates for the post of:

Manager, Education (2-year Contract)
You will develop, train and implement the use of Standardised Patients (SPs) in undergraduate and post-graduate medical education in the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and the National University Health System. Train faculty and staff regarding the use of SPs in the teaching and assessment of students. Work closely with Simulation Centre staff to integrate SPs in mixed simulation settings.

Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Curriculum Development and Education
• Work with Chair and various stake holders to develop the use of SPs in enhancing student learning
• Help develop and implement communications skills training longitudinally across all 5-years of the undergraduate curriculum
• Ongoing programmatic evaluation for clinical educational initiatives
• Identify opportunities for improvement and innovation
• Develop and coordinate research projects pertaining to SPs
• Work with Simulation Centre staff to develop appropriate mixed simulation encounters to enhance student learning

2. Training of Standardised Patients/ Participants
• Work with case/ scenario writers to develop suitable cases for SP encounters
• Provide training for SPs
• Evaluate and audit SP performance during teaching and assessment encounters with students
• Provide feedback to SPs
• Determine and advise which SPs can be used for high-stakes examinations, and those who should not continue in the programme

3. Administration of SP Programme
• Interview and hire of suitable SPs
• Oversee setup and maintenance of the SP database
• Liaise with centre administrator staff for scheduling of SP training sessions
• Liaise with centre administrator staff, relevant Dean’s office or departmental staff for the scheduling SP sessions with students for teaching or examinations

4. Supervisory responsibilities – work with (other / junior) SP trainer to provide training to SPs and in the administration of the SP Programme

Requirements:
• Bachelors Degree required. Master’s degree preferable.
• 5 years’ experience in healthcare education, with experience in curriculum development preferable
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Access will be an advantage
• Knowledge of data processing and data analysis software would be an asset
• Outgoing personality and be able to interact and work effectively with faculty, students, staff and SPs
