The Opportunity:
Our client is a successful privately owned Property Group headquartered in Edinburgh City Centre. An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced accountant to join the group in the role of Financial Controller to support the directors in performing all statutory and reporting requirements for the business.

Depending on the successful candidate’s situation this role can be conducted on a part-time flexible basis over 4 or 5 days. This role could be well suited to an experienced individual looking to balance work/home or someone looking to return to work. The business operates from attractive offices in Edinburgh’s West End and you will be a key employee within the small team. Office hours are 9-5pm Monday to Friday.

The current role holder has been with the business for several years and will ideally be involved in handing over responsibilities to ensure a smooth transition.

The Person:
You will be a qualified/experienced accountant with knowledge gained in a similar environment and demonstrable experience of working with a small, busy commercial team. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to work on your own initiative and be a confident team player.
Ideally CA/ACCA qualified you will be comfortable with conducting statutory accounting duties but proactive in dealing with queries and issues. You will also support the business in forecasting/budgeting, liaising with advisors/contractors and conduct company secretarial duties.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:
• Quarterly management accounts
• Monthly updating of cash flows/budgets with actual costs and sales
• Liaison with auditors on statutory accounts and completion of yearly unaudited accounts
• Monthly cheque and internet banking payments
• Bank reconciliations & daily updating of bank balances
• VAT return calculations, CIS tax returns and online submissions
• Quarterly calculation of banking covenants
• Insurance – annual renewal, liaison with brokers, dealing with claims
• Companies House annual returns
• Company secretarial duties
• Updating share schedules for pension schemes
