Our head office located in Edmonton, Alberta is currently recruiting an Accounting Manager. The incumbent is responsible for the accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed asset, and work order functions of the Finance Department. Responsible for all general accounting and statutory reporting functions, with the exception of Payroll. Additional responsibilities include preparation of monthly financial statements, implementation of accounting controls, and government and regulatory reporting.
Accounting Manager
Reporting to the Director, Finance, key accountabilities for the Accounting Manager include:
* supervise and coordinate the activities of the accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed asset and work order functions
* provide training, guidance, regular performance reviews, and encouragement to staff
* responsible for reviewing and approving credit applications up to $20,000, providing support to accounts receivable in collection matters and liaison with legal counsel on account collection;
* responsible for general ledger maintenance, including opening and closing of accounts, handling of all inquiries regarding account coding matters, and reviewing, approving, and posting general ledger transactions;
* prepare and coordinate all reporting and payments in compliance with government regulations and requirements
* preparation of month-end financial statements by coordinating cut-off of accounting sub-systems, and analysis of budget variances;
* coordinates and ensures monthly reconciliation’s of all appropriate general ledger accounts are prepared, reviewed, and filed on a timely basis;
* contributes to the maintenance of a positive environment of financial control
* coordinates budget preparation, entry, and reporting in cooperation with the Director of Finance;
* prepares and coordinates the periodic reporting required by the Company’s bank;
* monitor the Company’s obligations under contractual agreements to ensure all payments are made on a timely basis (e.g. loans, etc.)
* provide assistance to the Director of Finance related to month-end and year-end reporting, budget preparation, and preparation of special analyses and reports as required.

Education:
* Related post-secondary school education preferred
* Completion of an accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA);
Experience:
* Minimum of five years accounting related experience;
* management or supervisory experience; experience
* experience with credit and collections and preparation of financial reporting.
Skills:
* Effective communication skills to write and speak in a clear and concise manner to individuals at all levels of the organization
* Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices;
* Knowledge of credit and collection practices and procedures;
* Basic knowledge of all relevant corporate and personal
