Sharing a Google Form is simple, but how you share it depends on why you’re sharing it.
Maybe you want people to fill out the form, help build it, or just view the responses. Whatever the case, Google Forms gives you flexible sharing options for each situation. It also allows transferring the form ownership.
But,
In this guide, we’ll walk through three common ways to share your form — with respondents, collaborators, or viewers — and cover the exact steps to do it right. Let’s start with why sharing matters in the first place.
Why Sharing a Google Form Matters
Whether you’re collecting survey responses or building a form as a team, knowing how to share your Google Form the right way is essential.
Google Forms offers multiple sharing options depending on what you want users to do — respond to the form, help edit it, or view the collected data.
Common reasons to share a Google Form include:
- Sending it to users to collect responses
- Collaborating with teammates to build or refine the form
- Allowing stakeholders to view results in real-time
Each use case has its own steps and permissions. Let’s walk through them one by one.
Method 1 – Share a Google Form With Respondents (No Edit Rights)
Sharing your form with people to fill out is easy — and there are multiple ways to do it.
Here’s how to send your Google Form to anyone who needs to respond.
Option 1 – Send the Form via Email
Click the ‘Send’ button in the top-right corner of the form editor. Choose the email tab, type in the recipients’ addresses, and hit Send. You can even include the form directly in the email body.
Option 2 – Share the Form Link Directly
Click ‘Send’, then click the link icon (🔗). Copy the URL and share it via email, chat, or anywhere else. Optionally, shorten the URL for easier sharing.
Option 3 – Embed the Form on a Website
Under ‘Send’, click the < > icon to generate HTML embed code. You can paste this into your site’s HTML to allow visitors to complete the form without leaving your page.
Option 4 – Share the Form on Social Media
Google Forms offers built-in share buttons for Facebook and Twitter under the ‘Send’ menu. Just click and post — it automatically includes your form link.

Method 2 – Share a Google Form With Collaborators

Google Forms lets you control who can view and edit the form behind the scenes.
Step 1 – Open Your Form and Click the Three Dots (⋮)
In the top-right corner of the form editor, click the three vertical dots to open the menu.
Step 2 – Click “Add Collaborators”
From the menu, choose “Add collaborators”. A sharing window will pop up.

Method 3 – Share Google Form Responses
If someone needs to see the responses — but not edit the form — here’s how to share just the data.
Google Forms lets you link responses to a Google Sheet or export them manually.
- Link to Google Sheets: In the ‘Responses’ tab, click the green Sheets icon to send all response data to a spreadsheet. Then click Share in Google Sheets to choose who can view or edit the data.
