population.

The inclusion of the vaccine against hepatitis A
and hepatitis B virus in the immunization programs of every country.

Assessment of vitamins and herbal remedies for
safety.

To conduct a screening program in order to
identify early those individuals who consume alcohol beverages excessively
before they develop serious complications such as chronic liver disease.
v.
Avoidance of hepatotoxic medications, especially
non steroidalanti inflammatory drugs.
vi.
Avoidance of iron supplements unless iron
deficiency anaemia is present; multivitamins without iron should be used.
vii.
A weight reduction program (combined diet and
exercise) can improve liver function test results and liver histology in
patients with non alcoholic steatohepatitis.
