Lucknow – In an exhilarating start to the second edition of the UPT20 League, the Meerut Mavericks secured a commanding seven-wicket victory against the Kashi Rudras at the Ekana Stadium on Sunday. The highlight of the match was a blistering 66-run knock by Swastik Chikara, who played a pivotal role in the Mavericks’ dominant performance.
Kashi Rudras Struggle with the Bat
Kashi Rudras, batting first, struggled against the Mavericks’ bowlers and were dismissed for a modest 100 runs in 19.2 overs. The team’s batting collapse was evident as wickets tumbled quickly. Shivam, one of Kashi’s bowlers, had a particularly tough day, conceding 31 runs in his two overs. Atal Bihari Rai also faced difficulties, giving away 20 runs in just one over.
Meerut Mavericks Chase Down Target with Ease
In response, the Meerut Mavericks chased down the target with ease, scoring 103 runs in just nine overs for the loss of only three wickets. Openers Akshay Dubey and Swastik Chikara provided a stellar start, with Chikara’s explosive innings of 66 off 26 balls setting the tone for the chase. Their partnership of 76 runs in just 5.6 overs laid a strong foundation for the Mavericks’ victory.
