Role
overview
Play a lead role in consulting and engaging young people with disabilities,
communities, service provider and local authorities in the development and
implementation of a pilot project ‘Livelihoods and Lifeskills’ which targets
youth with disabilities.
Help to gather information about gender and inclusion issues, decision-making
processes and citizen engagement, and the resilience issues related to AYSRHR
to help make sure the project addresses these key issues.
Provide advice on the types of approaches the project should take and take part
in finalising the project.
Implement specific parts of the ‘Livelihoods and Life skills’ project in
collaboration with the VSO team based on matching your specific skills and
interests with the agreed project activities.
Ensure the progress of the project is well document including its impact on
issues of social inclusion and gender, citizen engagement and resilience.
Use learning from the project to inform future work on AYSRHR by VSO.
Skills,
qualifications and experience required

Essential
criteria:

 A degree in public health, social work
or education.
·
 Experience of working with adolescents
in an area of their social development, preferably sexual and reproductive
health.
·
 Some experience of qualitative research.
·
 Skills for community mobilisation
·
 Technical knowledge to develop
communication materials
·
 Ability to work with district officials
·
 Ability to train, motivate and lead
others.
·
Desirable Criteria:
 Experience of working with children with
disabilities and other vulnerable children.
·
 Fluent in Kinyarwanda and good command
of English Language.
·
Allowance
and accommodation
All
volunteers have an allowance paid in local currency. The allowance meets
reasonable living expenses in country, but will not be enough to send money
home.
VSO
works with some of the poorest communities in the world which means
accommodation varies and will be basic.
