IYF is seeking qualified candidates for the upcoming
USAID-funded Youth Leadership for Agriculture program. The purpose of this
five-year program is to increase economic opportunities for hundreds of
thousands of Ugandan female and male youth ages 10 to 35 in agriculture-related
fields in order to increase their incomes and build entrepreneurship,
leadership, and workforce readiness. The capacity of selected workforce
institutions and value chain actors will be strengthened to ensure
sustainability of youth outcomes.
 SUMMARY DESCRIPTION AND JOB
PURPOSE
The Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) is responsible for overseeing
programmatic activities and managing the day-to-day operations of the program,
in partnership with the Chief of Party. The DCOP will provide technical and
managerial leadership and will focus on building partnerships with key
stakeholders, including the private sector, government entities, and training
providers. In the absence of the Chief of Party, the DCOP will assume full
responsibility for the program.
 JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/SPECIFIC DUTIES
  • Support the COP in providing daily management of the
    program and oversight of staff and partners responsible for design,
    implementation, and monitoring and evaluation.
  • Provide input on strategic direction and vision of the
    program, in collaboration with COP, IYF/Baltimore staff, USAID and key
    Ugandan stakeholders, including program partners, public sector
    representatives, service providers, and young people.
  • Act as the daily point of contact with key stakeholders,
    including private sector partners and government counterparts; maintain
    good relationships and be responsive to their priorities and needs.
  • Produce effective written reports and oral presentations
    on the program, including preparing periodic reports, updating on
    developmental challenges facing the program, and articulating the
    program’s success in meeting deliverables.
  • Represent IYF and overall program interests at local,
    national and regional meetings, workshops and conferences as needed.
  • Supervise staff as assigned,
    including providing regular professional support and coaching to
    supervisees, assessing their performance and recommending improvements
    they can make to achieve their annual objectives and project goals.
  • Perform all
    other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION
REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 8
    years of experience in international development, preferably in
    agriculture, private enterprise development, or youth development
  • Excellent
    track record of achieving results in similar activities, demonstrated high
    level of leadership, interpersonal, technical, and analytical skills.
  • Minimum of a
    Master’s degree in agricultural economics, economics, business,
    international development, public policy, education, ore related field;
    Bachelor’s degree in related field with 12 years of experience.
  • Must have
    strong English written and oral communications skills.
