Job Overview:
The role of the marketing department at UrbanTrans is to support the entire
company in creating behavior change through clearly and cleverly communicating
the benefits of sustainable commuting. This is done through the development and
implementation of campaigns, creating communications material (digital and
print), tracking and monitoring success and experimenting with innovative
strategies and tools.
Most specifically, the successful marketing specialist candidate will perform
ongoing strategic communications and marketing support for the Transportation
Management Associations (TMAs) our firm manages across North America. Duties
will include, but are not limited to:
• Assist the Senior Marketing Specialist in updating and creating
communications materials and content both in electronic formats and print
formats
• Track and report performance and analytics of various clients’ websites,
emails and social media accounts
• Develop contact lists, maintain contact database, and streamline maintenance
of such assets
• Support the development of marketing and social media strategies and content
for key programs and projects
• Create and/or edit graphic design files where appropriate
• Contribute to the innovation and improvement of the company
Experience Requirements:
• Two or more years of full-time professional experience, related to design,
marketing, and or communications
• Degree and/or certificate in preferred fields of communications, design or
marketing
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
• Must have excellent computer skills in:
• MS Office
• Social media including but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram,
Hootsuite (or equivalent)
• Google Analytics
• MailChimp (and other email marketing platforms such as Mandrill an asset)
• WordPress (basic CMS editing)
• Basic Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign knowledge
• Experience using a task management system such as ASANA is an asset
• A strong grasp of content marketing fundamentals, an understanding of
traditional copywriting techniques, and the ability to write clearly and
persuasively
• A basic understanding of SEO and how to create content that ranks well in
search engines
Other Requirements:
• Must have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Must be able to prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects
• Strong organizational and planning skills
• Desire to positively affect the community, region and environment
• A background/interest in sustainable transportation and environmental
impacts, urban planning, and transportation demand management is a bonus
• Willingness and ability to travel
• Must be able to work productively in an open office environment (note we are
a dog friendly office space)
