Duties:
The successful candidate will be expected to:
(i) teach Physics courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels;
(ii) supervise undergraduate and graduate research;
(iii) conduct research and research leadership related services;
(iv) provide academic leadership and act as a mentor to junior academic staff;
(v) attract funding or grants to the University of Botswana in his or her research area;
(vi) carry out any other responsibilities as and when may be assigned by the Head of Department.
Requirements:
Candidates should have:
(i) a PhD in Physics;
(ii) significant university teaching experience or equivalent;
(iii) at least 24 publications in energy, especially solar energy, 12 of which are peer reviewed journal papers;
(iv) lead and/or single authored in at least 10 journal articles or book chapters;
(v) evidence of academic leadership;
(vi) evidence of service to a university, the profession and the community;
(vii) the ability to attract funding from international sources and this should be reflected in the profile.
Practical experience in preparation and characterisation of materials for application to solar energy research will be an added advantage.
