offering 50 fully-funded doctoral studentships for UK/EU and overseas
students. These studentships are awarded within in the schools of
Business, Arts & Social Sciences, Health Sciences, Engineering &
Mathematical Sciences, Law and School of Informatics for entry in 2014/15.
Applicants are assessed on the basis of their research excellence or demonstrable
potential and the quality of their research proposal.

Eligibility: University
Doctoral Studentships are available to both UK/EU and overseas fee-paying
students who will be studying full-time. They can be held in any School of the
University.
Scholarship Open for International Students: UK/EU and overseas students can apply for these
doctoral studentships.
Scholarship Description: Each year, City provides a number of fully-funded, full-time, three-year
Doctoral Studentships to outstanding candidates as part of its ongoing
investment in academic excellence. We are offering up to 50 University Doctoral
Studentships for entry in 2014/15 along with some externally sponsored
opportunities.
Number of award(s): Up to 50 doctoral studentships are offered (Cass Business School –
19 Doctoral Studentships, School of Arts & Social Sciences – 11 Doctoral
Studentships, School of Health Sciences – 8 Doctoral Studentships, School of
Engineering & Mathematical Sciences – 8 Doctoral Studentships with
Informatics, School of Informatics – 8 Doctoral Studentships with Engineering
& Mathematical Sciences, The City Law School – 6 Doctoral Studentships).
Duration of award(s): These doctoral studentships are offered for three years.
What does it cover? A Doctoral Studentship provides:
-an annual bursary (£16,000 in 2014/15 and may be increased in line with
inflation in subsequent years);
-a full tuition fee waiver;
-a one-off allowance of £1,000 which may be used across the three-year period
of the studentship to support research needs such as specialist training,
equipment or conference attendance.
Selection Criteria: Applicants are assessed on the basis of their research excellence or
demonstrable potential and the quality of their research proposal.
How to Apply: Each school has its own application arrangements: Applications should be
sent for a research degree at City University London in the normal way by
post to different contacts for each schools (Applications to Cass Business
