United Way of
Calgary and Area is looking for a full-time Brand Activation and Media Manager to
join the Marketing.
Media.
Communications (MMC) team within United Way of Calgary
and Area. Reporting to the Vice President- Marketing.Media.Communications, the
role of Brand
Activation and Media Manager is to lead, develop and execute
United Way of Calgary and Area’s digital brand activation platforms and media
plans to support increased reach of UWCA with all audiences. Leadership
in managing UWCA external reputation as a thought leader and a trusted partner
in the not for profit sector.

Key
Responsibilities:
- Strategic
Leadership: Leads the development,
management and analysis of strategic media plans, digital brand activation
platforms and social media. Holds self and team members accountable
for the flawless execution of plans while addressing and managing the
risks associated - Functional
Oversight responsibilities: This
role is responsible for media relations, digital platforms and social
media. - Process
Leadership: Lead, develop and take
responsibility for the development of processes that increase
efficiencies, provides clarity for staff and maintains focus on strategic
plans. This includes the development of media sound bites, media
training, risk strategy management, social media and digital platforms
. Holds internal stakeholders accountable and aligned to media
strategies - Cross-Functional
Leadership: Works in collaboration
with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure that media plans
aligns with core marketing, media and divisional departments.
Convenes and leads teams to address issues and barriers through a solution
focused approach - People
Leadership: Provides coaching,
training and leadership to staff assigned to Manager, Media. Leads
performance management with personal development plans for each member of
the media team. Leads and actively supports a cultural standard of
transparency, respect for confidentiality/privacy while supporting
innovation, teamwork and engagement - Fiscal
Responsibility: Manages annual
departmental budget. Plans for future resources and advocates
appropriately for budget to support the business case. Holds self
and team members responsible for appropriate use of operational and donor
funds, following the UWCA charter - External
Relationship Management: Builds stellar
external relationships with agency partners, Board Members, donor groups
and volunteers
Qualifications:
- Degree
in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations or an
associated discipline - 3
years of people management experience (direct reporting structure) - Excellent
experience in the development of digital brand activation platforms
includes peer to peer fundraising models, social media and media relations - 5-7
years experience in communications field with a track record of
progressive responsibility - Experience
in leading communication platforms including social media and website with
multiple competing stakeholders and audiences with varying degrees of
knowledge and agreement
