About RSCE:
The Regional Service Centre Steering
Committee is the decision-making body for RSCE, in compliance with General
Assembly resolutions, United Nations Secretariat rules and regulations,
strategic guidance from United Nations Headquarters and oversight bodies. The
Steering Committee consults with the Global Field Support Strategy
Implementation Coordination Team, as required.
The Regional Service Centre, as
approved by the Member States, is owned, managed and staffed by the regional
missions it serves. This framework reinforces the existing missions’ chain of
command structures and lines of authority in a manner that does not create an
additional layer between Headquarters and the regional missions. It also
ensures that staffing for RSCE will be achieved through the redeployment of resources
from the regional missions it serves.
Job Summary: The
Property Disposal Assistant will be primarily responsible for the efficient and
effective handling of operations.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • Support in the receiving and
    verification of  items/waste materials from Self Accounting Units as
    per hand-over documents and report immediately for any discrepancy
  • Attend Board of Survey and
    represent PDU when it is necessary
  • Identify, categorize and sort
    items/ waste materials on similar functions
  • Keep items on pallets, list,
    label and place them on their proper locations
  • Update bin locations in the
    database once items are physically placed.
  • Keep the proper inventory of
    all items by verified physically on an interim basis
  • Support in entering data for
    new arrival items to the Property Disposal database
  • Prepare items in lots that are
    recommended for sale through bidding exercises
  • Operate fork lift to keep
    movement of items within the warehouse and scrap yard
  • Ensure the removal of barcodes
    and any UN marks from items ready for collection by successful bidders
    and/or contractors
  • Responsible for keeping the
    warehouse and storage facilities clean, well-organized and its space is
    efficiently used
  • Support the monitoring the PDU
    Yard, warehouse and storage areas on daily basis and report immediately
    for any incident that may occur.
  • Carry out the process of
    disposal of assets using Galileo, IPSAS and UMOJA applications.
  • Perform any other duties as
    directed by the PDU Supervisor and Chief of the unit
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The ideal candidates for the
    aforementioned United Nations RSCE career opportunity must have completed
    High school with a Certificate or equivalent.
  • A minimum of four years’
    experience in administrative services, accounting, audit, inventory or
    related field plus experience in basic computer applications.
Language:
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For the
post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required.
