UNDP Communications Analyst Job Vacancy in Rwanda

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP – Rwanda) is announcing
the following vacancy:

I. Position Information

Job Code Title: Communications Analyst
Department: Management Support Unit
Reports to: Head, Management Support Unit
Grade: NOB

Type of contract: Fixed-Term Appointment

Duration: one year renewable
Deadline: March 27, 2014
II. Organizational Context
Under the overall guidance of the Country Director, in close
consultation with the RR/RC and under the direct supervision of the Chief of
the Management Support Unit (MSU), the Communications Analyst develops concrete
plans for implementation of global advocacy campaigns and implements UNDP
Rwanda communications strategy. The UNDP communications strategy is tightly
linked to program priorities and helps position the Country Office as a cutting
edge development partner.
The Communications Analyst may supervise and lead communications support
staff. The Communications Analyst works in close collaboration with the
Advisory, Programme, and Operations teams as well as project teams to ensure
that these strategies meet the programme needs. The incumbent closely
cooperates with the staff of other UN Agencies, UNDP HQs/Communications Office
and the Regional Communication Specialist, Government officials, media,
multi-lateral and bi-lateral donors and civil society ensuring successful UNDP
communication strategy implementation.

III. Functions / Key Results Expected Summary of Key Functions:
  • Formulation
    and implementation of CO internal and external communications and advocacy
    strategies and tools
  • Contribution
    to the “Communication as One” function of the DaO through
    effective participation in the UN Communication Group
  • Management
    of the content of the UNDP web site in combination with maintaining a
    vibrant online media presence including Twitter, Face-book, YouTube, and
    Flickr.
  • Support
    to business development and effective contribution to implementation of
    resource mobilization strategy
IV. Impact of Results

The key results from conceptualization of effective communications strategies
and tools and the dissemination of information on UNDP will impact on UNDP
visibility and image, and enhance UNDP Rwanda business development potentials
and the reputation of the organization and the UN with its key stakeholders. In
particular, the key results have an impact on implementation of UNDP Corporate
communications strategy as well as reaching resource mobilization targets.

VI. Recruitment Qualifications Education:

Master’s degree in Media, Journalism, International Relations, Communications
or related field.

Experience:
  • Minimum
    of 2 years of relevant experience at the national or international level
    in public relations, communications or advocacy.
  • Experience
    with the UN system a distinct advantage
  • Experience
    in the usage of computers and office software packages and handling of
    web-based management systems essential.
  • Experience
    with Adobe CQ5 a real asset.
Language Requirements:

Fluency (both verbal and written) in English and French and Kinyarwanda.
