Background
of Trócaire
Trócaire is the
official overseas development agency of the Catholic Church in Ireland,
established in 1973 and currently has presence in more than 17 countries in
Latin America, Africa and Asia including Rwanda.
Trócaire does not
implement programme directly. Instead the organisation works in partnership
with local civil society a
nd catholic organisations on the ground. The aim is
that ‘solutions’ to overcome poverty and injustice are not imposed on partners
and beneficiaries but rather that they are the authors of their own
development. In working with Partners, Trócaire has a key mandate to
enhance their capacities to respond to programme monitoring and evaluation, accountability,
learning and communicating results.
Going forward,
Trocaire will pursue integrated programmes focused on sustainable use and
management of natural resources (land and water), women’s empowerment as well
as preparing for and responding to humanitarian crises.
Scope of the
Internship role
The role of intern
has arisen to support the development and delivery of integrated programming by
improving the office efficiency and capacity to respond to programme quality
requirements set by Headquarters in Ireland and various donors
He/she will be
expected to participate/lead different tasks related to programmes such as
packaging stories of change and other visibility initiatives, working closely
with finance and administration as well as taking minutes of different
meetings. The role will include support to the Programme Officer, Programme
Accountant and M&E Officer on field visits to deliver quality partner’s
accompaniment and support responses. This also requires being comfortable and
fluent in written and spoken English and also preparing reports.
Qualifications
and experience
You will have
recently graduated and hold Bachelors in Development Studies, Agronomy,
Business Administration, Gender Studies, Media and Communications, Social
Studies or other related area. Additional experience is an added
advantage.
You will be a team
player with excellent communication skills (oral and written) with fluency in
English, French and Kinyarwanda; demonstrated analytical skills; basic
understanding of IT systems and applications including Microsoft word, Power-
point and Excel.
Allowance
An internship
allowance will be paid depending on qualifications and experience.
