Trocaire
is the official overseas development agency of the Catholic Church in Ireland,
established in 1973.

Trocaire
does not implement overseas programs directly. Instead the organization works
in partnership with global Catholic networks and with local civil society
organizations on the ground. The aim is that ´solutions´ to overcoming poverty
and injustice are not imposed on partners and beneficiaries but rather that
they are the authors of their own development.
Trocaire´s
programs in Rwanda and Burundi are managed from an office in Kigali, which
currently has twenty-one contracted staff. A small Trocaire sub-office in
Bujumbura has three staff members.

The
post of Finance Officer — General Accounts reports to the Financial
Administrator and is responsible for all accounting support to Trocaire´s
programs in Rwanda and Burundi. The position is also a key contact for
government, donors, local partners and auditors.

You
will hold a Bachelor´s Degree in Accountancy, Finance or Business
Administration or a recognized, comparable, Accountancy Qualification
and have at least 3 years experience as an Accountant / Finance Officer,
or equivalent, ideally with an INGO or NGO.

Experience
of managing the finances for multi-donor budgets and familiarity with different
donor financial policies is required as are experience of organizing audits and
familiarity with procurement procedures and maintenance of asset lists.
Competency in Microsoft Office computer packages and at least one recognized
Accountancy Package (ideally Agresso) is essential, as is fluency in both
written and spoken Kinyarwanda and French and a good working knowledge of
English.
