Job Description
The TREC Renewable Energy Co-operative (TREC) is an incorporated, not-for-profit organization that has been working for more than 10 years to develop co-operatively owned renewable energy projects in Ontario and to educate about renewable energy, conservation, and the community power model. TREC planned and built North America’s first urban-sited wind turbine in partnership with Toronto Hydro. TREC then established the Windshare Co-operative to jointly own and operate the turbine with Toronto Hydro. Today we deliver several innovative education programs, are building two electricity generation projects and offer co-op support services to the community power sector.

Given our success in developing projects we are seeking a new member to join our dynamic team to help us build strategic partnerships and meet our funding requirements. The Partner Relations Coordinator will report to the Executive Director (ED) and work with the ED and senior staff to develop a coordinated fundraising and partnership strategy and lead on the implementation of that strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
1) Design and manage TREC’s multi-year fundraising efforts:
• Set ambitious annual fundraising goals focused on corporate sponsors, private foundations, government grants and individual giving.
• Identify, research, source, cultivate and manage new and existing partnerships leading to new and on-going revenue.
• Explore and evaluate the potential for both established and innovative fundraising tactics to expand our sponsor and/or grantor base and reach out to new and diverse markets.
• Ensure programs are properly integrated and strategically aligned in order to promote TREC’s brand and support its annual goals.

2) Grant writing for private, corporate, and government funding
• Work closely with program staff to compile, write, and edit all grant applications to various funders according to deadline.
• Administer and monitor all aspects of the grant process to ensure reports are completed and submitted on time and according to guidelines

3) Determine realistic and well-informed annual fundraising goals for TREC Education projects and lead the execution of the fundraising effort. Consult with Executive Director to identify and manage strategic fundraising opportunities

4) Effectively track and document all existing TREC partnerships and opportunities using relationship management software.

Qualifications:
• Minimum 3 years experience in a fundraising role within a non-profit environment.
• A track record of successful grant applications to corporate, private, and government foundations (please be prepared to provide examples).
• Demonstrated ability to create innovative fundraising programs and meeting targets
• CFRE accreditation or affiliation/membership with Association of Fundraising Professionals a definite asset
• Evidence of professional related training and development to keep skills current, including fundraising program development, strategic communications, etc.
• Knowledge and understanding of environmental issues, in particular renewable energy and energy efficiency an asset; commitment to TREC’s mission

Skills:
• Articulate, inspiring communicator with advanced verbal skills
• Excellent writing and organizational skills
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in the use of MS Office
• Experience using databases, use of Salesforce is an asset
• Experience using a directory of foundations, similar to BIG online
• Diplomatic approach and adept at engendering support and loyalty from community
partners and other stakeholders
• Models strong team player behaviour and fosters ongoing effective relationships with staff, members, volunteers, supporters, partners and donors
• Capacity to deal with numerous people in a fast-paced environment and bring discipline, enthusiasm, and energy to the role
• Self-starter capable of identifying the need for and taking independent action with strong customer service, problem solving and planning skills
• Detail oriented with the ability to prioritize and multi task is essential to accomplish a variety of tasks, sometimes with conflicting priorities and timelines
• High degree of professionalism and a reputation for getting results
• Solid project management skills to coordinate a variety of ongoing initiatives
• Management experience with the ability to set clearly stated work assignments and hold people accountable.
