The Toronto
Environmental Alliance (TEA) has exciting opportunities for environmentally
minded, articulate, and passionate individuals to join our front-line campaign
team.
Since 1988, the TEA
has campaigned
locally to find solutions to Toronto’s urban environmental
problems. A not-for-profit organization, TEA advocates on behalf of all
Torontonians for a green, healthy and equitable city. We rely on our members to
help us work with communities and we act as an environmental watchdog at City
Hall.
Highlights
of being a TEA front-line campaigner
- Go door
to door engaging the public about TEA’s work and inspiring the public to
support our local efforts with their name and donation - Work
with a progressive and diverse canvass team dedicated to organizing at the
local level - Develop
your communication and interpersonal skills - Learn
about TEA’s current initiatives and important environmental issues
affecting Toronto through briefings with campaigners and other guest
speakers
Hours and
Remuneration
The working hours
for the front-line campaign team are from 2:15 – 8:45 Monday to Friday.
Canvassers are required to work a minimum of three shifts per week. Starting
training pay is $11/hour. There are pay increases and bonuses after the initial
training period. Full-time employees who pass the probationary period are eligible
for vacation time and health benefits. The job offers room for advancement.
Weather and
Work Safety
Canvassers should be
prepared to work in all weather conditions. In extreme weather events canvass
will be cancelled. Canvassers also have the option to work alone or to be
paired with a fellow canvasser.
