The Calgary Herald ,Reporter / Digital Journalist Job Vacancy in Canada

The Calgary Herald is looking for a
fully-digital journalist who can help set the local news agenda through hard
work, clear understanding of complex issues, creativity, and strong, contextual
writing. The successful candidate will feel at home in the fast-paced
environment of local news coverage for digital and print platforms, and is able
to engage others on social media. At the same time, he or she is able to
produce strong multimedia coverage, as well as provide deep, original analysis
of underlying trends.

Qualifications
This position will be assigned to
local coverage via the Herald’s super city desk, and the ideal candidate should
be familiar with the city of Calgary and the fast-growing western region of
Canada. Day-to-day responsibilities will involve providing differentiated
digital coverage and analysis that helps elevate the Herald’s new four-platform
strategy, including:
  • Working
    contacts to regularly break exclusive news
  • Being
    an active participant and promoter of the Herald brand on social media
  • Using
    analysis to anchor a blog and print coverage
  • Producing
    engaging content which can be used for tablet and mobile editions
  • Have
    the ability to shoot photos, video and edit short video clips
  • Represent
    the Calgary Herald on video, television and other mediums.
