Purpose of the
role
- To
provide expert legal advice on various marketing campaigns and initiatives - To
assist the Marketing Team to implement its strategies in a legally
effective manner - To
create and maintain tools to empower the Marketing Team to develop and
“self” approve certain low risk marketing materials - To
administer the Group’s online Marketing Governance tool - To protect
the interests of the Group, its directors and officers
Key
Accountabilities
- Provide
quality, commercial and timely legal advice on advertising and promotional
material covering: - All
regulatory and disclosure obligations - Competition
and other trade practices issues - Channel
issues – print media, direct mail, radio, television etc - Privacy
- Social
media - Codes
of conduct and other standards and requirement eg ACMA, CAD
- Manage
the Group’s online Marketing Governance Tool - Manage and
coordinate legal advice in relation to advertising campaigns offering
products and services of more than one Business Unit - Manage
and administer the guideline/manual and applicable training material to
enable the Marketing Team to produce legally compliant “low
risk” marketing material without reference to the Legal Team - Delivery
of training to Marketing Team (if any) - To work
with Group Marketing on various Group wide marketing initiatives and
strategies - The
main areas outlined above are achieved by:
- Developing
a strong, effective relationships in the Suncorp marketing community - Developing
a strong working knowledge of Suncorp products and services - Liaising
with other legal teams as required - Advising
on particular campaigns - Drafting
documents (including marketing guideline/manual) - Advising
on documents - Keeping
up to date with legislative, regulatory and industry changes liaising
with external lawyers, marketing advisors and advertising agencies.
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience
- Current
Practising Certificate - Admission
as a Solicitor or Barrister in any Australian Court - Must
have at least 3 years’ experience practicing as a lawyer in the areas of
law specified below under the heading knowledge in either private practice,
corporate practice or government. - Experience
in the financial services industry, ideally banking or insurance - Experience
providing legal services across diverse environments - Excellent
negotiation skills – able to persuade and negotiate - Good
research skills - Good
technology skills, including working knowledge of social media channels - Well-developed
analytical skills - Problem
solving ability - Ability
to identify legal issues and apply legally acceptable solutions within
required timeframe - A
specific and detailed working knowledge of the following areas of law and
regulation; - ASIC
Act - Corporations
Act - Other
relevant Marketing laws and Regulatory Guides - Competition
and Consumer Laws - Insurance
Contracts Act - Privacy
and discrimination laws - Relevant
Codes of Practice
- A good
