Position: Executive Director
Organization: St. Croix International Waterway Commission
Location: Charlotte County, New Brunswick

The St. Croix International Wa

terway Commission is seeking an
energetic, diplomatic leader. As Executive Director of the SCIWC,
you’ll exercise your knowledge of government and non-profit funding to
build a stable and growing financial base. With your excellent
communication and facilitation skills, you’ll help people and
organizations work together across an international border on
sometimes complex and contentious issues. The diverse mandate of the
SCIWC means you’ll need to use your organization and time management
skills to ensure that you and other seasonal staff members function
efficiently and effectively, delivering high quality programs. You’ll
need to know how to make the most of a budget, complete project on
time, and how to work with other organizations and non-profits to find
new solutions to challenges.

The Executive Director reports directly to a Board of Commissioners
composed equally of members from New Brunswick and Maine, and works
closely with government liaisons from Maine and New Brunswick. You’ll
be guided by the Commissioners, as well as the SCIWC’s strategic plan
and the international management plan for the waterway.

Our ideal candidate will have strong education and experience in an
environmental, recreation or scientific field relevant to managing a
waterway, as well as management experience, preferably in a non-profit
organization. You’ve the opportunity to lead projects from start to
finish, and you’ve been responsible for supervising and guiding staff.
It is essential that you have the ability and experience to
communicate well, and with diplomacy, both orally and in writing. You
like working in an organization where your tasks are diverse and you
can connect your daily work to larger, long-term strategic goals.
You’re passionate about the St. Croix region, its history, culture,
and natural resources. You’ll also need to be able to work and travel
freely in both the US and Canada.

The St. Croix International Waterway Commission is an international,
non-profit partnership that protects and enhances the health, heritage
and beauty of the shared St. Croix waterway. The St. Croix forms a
natural border between Maine and New Brunswick, and the SCIWC acts as
a bridge, facilitating action in both countries toward the goals of
its international, cooperative management plan.

Salary is competitive based on a non-profit scale and is commensurate
with experience.
