With London 2012 on the horizon there has never been a more exciting time to work in British sport. Badminton is an Olympic sport and a major sport in England and across the globe, with a strong history of growth, achievement and delivery.
BADMINTON England is the sport’s governing body in England and has a reputation across all levels of the game for its commitment, organisation and professionalism.
Applications are invited for the newly created Sponsorship and Sales Intern based at the National Badminton Centre (NBC) in Milton Keynes.
This exciting and varied internship will provide an opportunity for an enthusiastic and hard-working individual to gain broad experience in the sports industry.
The Sponsorship and Sales Intern will primarily support the sponsorship, membership and commercial operations of BADMINTON England.
Duties will include:
– Assisting the Sponsorship Manager in various tasks relating to the sponsorship and commercial operations of BADMINTON England. This will include sponsorship account management, brand research, event marketing, and project management
– Assisting the Membership Services Manager during the Membership renewals period
– Performing new business research to investigate potential new sponsors and partners
– Coordinating the advertising sales programme
– Project managing the hospitality programmes at the Yonex BWF World Badminton Championships 2011 and at the Yonex All England Open Championships 2012
The position will involve some routine work, however due to the diverse nature of working in a sports marketing environment this will undoubtedly be challenging and rewarding for the right applicant.
The successful applicant will be required to have the following:
– IT literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
– Excellent communication skills
– Strong organisational and administration skills
– Be able to meet deadlines and prioritise effectively
This 10 month internship will begin June / early July 2011 and a salary of £12,000 pa (pro-rata) Grade 1 is offered together with annual leave.
