MicroGrants (www.sparkmicrogrants.org) is a young, rapidly scaling organization
pioneering a new approach to international aid. Spark proactively reaches out
to rural poor villages and helps community members to design, implement, and
manage their own social impact projects. Since July 2010, we have mobilized
over 72 communities in Rwanda and Uganda to manage social impact projects
including schools, community farms, health centers and more.

Description:
The Finance Manager will play a vital role in the Spark Rwanda team as it
continues to grow and transition into a fully locally run unit. The Finance
Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day financial management, oversight
and compliance of Spark’s Rwanda program. Responsibilities will include:

Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day financial management, oversight
and compliance of Spark’s Rwanda program. Responsibilities will include:
- Day-to-day
bookkeeping - Account
reconciliations - Compiling
monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports - Streamlining
and improving financial processes - Creating,
managing and reconciling budgets - Processing
payroll taxes and social security - Banking
(bank withdrawals and currency exchanges) - Processing
payroll - Leading
community financial trainings - Managing
Spark equipment - Auditing
community microgrant disbursements - Collecting,
digitizing and filing receipts and supporting documents
The
Finance Manager will receive hands on experience in the day-to-day operations
of an international NGO and will have opportunities for continued growth and
involvement contingent on ability and performance.

Qualifications:
- Bachelors
degree in Accounting, Finance or related field - Prior
professional experience with bookkeeping, accounting and financial
reporting - Strong
computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office - Must
be dedicated to Spark’s cause and be flexible and work creatively
according to the organization’s needs and timeframe. - Experience
using Quickbooks strongly preferred - Must
have excellent organizational and time management skills, be trustworthy,
self-motivated and work well in a small team - Ability
to work unsupervised and independently - Attention
to detail - Proficiency
in Kinyarwanda preferred
