international aid. Spark proactively reaches out to rural poor villages and
helps community members to design, implement and manage their own social impact
projects. Since July 2010 we have mobilized over 70 communities in Rwanda and
Uganda to manage social impact projects including schools, community farms,
electricity lines and more.

Description
Spark MicroGrants is seeking a full time
Development Manager to spearhead our donor communications and outreach
strategy. The Development Manager will be responsible for collecting field
updates, donor reporting, grant writing as well as developing systems to
institutionalize and automate external and internal communication. The ideal
candidate must have very strong writing skills as well as prior experience
creating grant proposals. The right candidate must be motivated, flexible and
passionate about the chance to make a difference in the early stages of a
growing organization. The Development Manager will receive exceptional on the
ground experience, have a rare opportunity to contribute to the development of
a new model for aid, and liaise with rural communities working across numerous
sectors.

Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Spark’s Executive Director
to collect information for grant applications and reporting. - Draft grant proposals and donor updates.
- Collaborate with field staff to collect, edit
and distribute information and media from Spark’s partner communities. - Work closely with all field staff to improve
their story collection skills, and mentor the Rwandan Communications
Officer. - Work with support staff across country offices
to tailor the Salesforce platform to best suit the needs of each country
team. - Maintain website particularly with regular
community updates to help promote crowd-funding platform. - Develop and design marketing materials.
- Develop organizational communications
strategy. - Maintain online discussion platform on current
topics in development.

Qualifications
- Bachelors degree required
- Grant writing experience (2+ years) required
- Strong communication skills a must, experience
writing for varied audiences preferred - Salesforce fluency or the ability to learn
quickly - Media skills, including photography and video
- WordPress programming ability preferred
- Candidate must have demonstrated success in
past leadership - Superior organizational ability and diligence
- Flexibility and independence in work and
travel schedule - Passion for building international support for
locally-led development - A very positive attitude is a must!
