The Scotland Malawi Partnership is recruiting a Member Services Officer to assist its work inspiring the people and organisations of Scotland to be involved with Malawi in an informed, coordinated and effective way for the benefit of both nations.

The post holder, who should have knowledge and understanding of the voluntary sector, will play a key role in ensuring that the Partnership operates effectively as an information resource for its members and other relevant organisations. The post will require a range of abilities including: excellent written and oral communication skills; good team working; event organisation; project management and evaluation; management of interns and volunteers and the effective use of ICT and web-based technology. The successful candidate will ideally also have experience with international development, international linking and/or Malawi.

Core Areas of Responsibility:
• Organise and manage a programme of workshops, stakeholder meetings, and training events for members across a wide range of areas;
• Coordinate and support member forums on health, education, higher education, etc;
• Develop new publications for members and the general public relating to Scotland’s civil society links with Malawi;
• Review and update existing publications as necessary;
• Act as the first point of contact for incoming enquiries;
• Research and disseminate information around funding opportunities to members;
• Facilitate collaboration and the exchange of experience and best practice between members;
• Prepare and circulate a weekly news bulletin and a monthly newsletter to members;
• Oversee web-based discussion groups;
• Promote public awareness of the Partnership’s aims and activities throughout Scotland via the media and other vehicles;
• Provide secretarial support to the Scottish Parliament’s Cross Party Group on Malawi;
• Supervise and manage a small team of interns and volunteers;
• Assist with the collection of monitoring and evaluation data;
• Any other reasonable duties necessary for the delivery of the Scotland Malawi Partnership’s strategic objectives.
