seeks to fill the following vacant positions and applications are invited from
suitably qualified and experienced Persons for the operations.
Senior Officer Fertility
Awareness and Community Transformation (FACT) Project (1 Position); Kampala
Job Purpose:
The Senior Officer –
FACT contributes to Save the Children’s capacity to implement the FACT project
as a means of improving fertility awareness and access to fertility awareness
methods using existing program SCI platforms in Northern Uganda and Karamoja
region. S/he is responsible for ensuring proper coordination of FACT activities
with those of existing program platforms used for implementation of the FACT
project; coordinating and providing guidance on mobilization activities to
ensure effective participation in FACT activities of communities within
selected program platforms; supporting the training of facility and community
based providers about fertility awareness, fertility awareness based family
planning methods and other family planning methods; leading on monitoring and
documentation of project activities and contributing to writing of project
reports. The Senior Officer may be called upon as and when necessary to support
the emergency team in cases of humanitarian crisis.
Academic back
ground, Experience & Person Specifications;
- Minimum
of a bachelor’s degree or higher diploma in either midwifery or medicine
field or equivalent accrued working experience, with skills and experience
in community delivery of family planning methods or sexual reproductive
health; - Experience
in gender programming and previous experience in family planning or SRH
programming is an advantage; - Postgraduate
training in Reproductive Health and Gender related field, Population
Studies, Development studies, Social Sciences or Management is an added
advantage; - Minimum
of 3 years working experience in community based family planning or sexual
reproductive health programs, related programming in Uganda (preferably
with an International NGO); - Must be
willing to extensively travel to the field.
General
specifications applicable to all positions;
- Experience
of working with local partners and District Local Government in Child
Rights Governance, Health, Nutrition, Education, HIV/AIDS or Child
Protection is an added advantage. - Strong
analytical skills and strategic planning abilities. - Ability
to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform
effectively as a member of a team. - Willingness
to travel and work in hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous
conditions. - Computer
literacy and excellent documentation skills are a must. - Availability
and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian
responses. - Highly
developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international
environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures - Ability
to intervene with crisis management or troubleshooting as necessary. - Highly
developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing,
negotiation and coaching - Excellent
time management and planning capacity. - Availability
and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian
responses.
