Review
and Modification of the Rwanda Women Leadership Curriculum
Background
Rwanda
Women’s Network is a national non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to
strengthening strategies that empower Rwandan women since its inception in 1997
and has extensive experience in fostering women’s participation and grassroots
responses to community challenges. RWN’s vision is for a healthy, empowered and
peaceful Rwandan society.

The organization’s mission is to work towards the
improvement of the socio-economic welfare of women in Rwanda through enhancing
their efforts to meet their basic needs and this is done through five core
programs i.e. Health Care and Support, education and knowledge sharing;
socio-economic empowerment; GBV Prevention and Response and governance and
leadership.

Background
to the Consultancy
RWN
is currently implementing the Women Leadership in Horticulture Sector project
in partnership with Hivos for three years (June 2017-December 2019). The main
objective of the project is to promote the advancement of women’s leadership
and representation in decision making processes in the Horticulture sector by
addressing both strategic and practical issues that hinder women’s progress.
The
objectives of the project are:
  1. To
strengthen the leadership capacities of women workers and their
representatives; and management in the horticultural sector in Eastern Africa.
  2. To
promote gender responsive and decent work policies and practices for
decision making and influencing in the flower farms.
  3. To
influence national, regional and international processes on gender
    equality and decent work.
The
anticipated outcome of the project is that once empowered with the knowledge on
gender equality (SDG 5) and decent work (SDG 8) women at farm worker level will
be able to identify and rally around issues that will enable a fair work
environment in the Horticulture sector through influencing relevant policy
development at management, national and international level.
