Rwanda Stock Exchange lists RH Bophelo

JSE-listed special purpose healthcare acquisition firm RH Bophelo listed on the Rwanda Stock Exchange (RSE).

The primary listing and exchange of RHB will remain as the JSE, with the RSE listing a secondary.

The company said the reason for the RSE listing was to diversify RHB’s investor base and facilitate the company’s A-share availability to the wider East African public as well as provide an easy and efficient way for RHB ‘s stakeholders and partners in the region to benefit from ownership in RHB ‘s growth and fortunes.

“We are delighted to add value to the Rwandan healthcare ecosystem, and we’re looking forward to interacting with their great professionals,” said Colin Clarke, RHB’s executive director.

The company added that RSE is offering RHB the exposure that comes with Rwanda being at East Africa ‘s epicenter and a leader on the african continent. Rwanda proves to be a jurisdiction where RHB can unlock capital and this will be facilitated by the RSE listing, as well as acting as an initial springboard to the rest of Africa.

“The Rwanda listing couldn’t have come at a better time, especially in a month where, as Africans, we are celebrating Africa Month. This is an opportunity to promote African unity, investments across Africa and its people, deeper regional integration, and to recommit Africa to a common goal,” said Dion Mhlaba, RH Bophelo’s chief financial officer.

Faida Securities Rwanda was RSE sponsor and Edward Nathan Sonnenbergs was lead legal advisor.
