FORUM FOR ALTERNATIVE TRADE, in short “RWAFAT”, is a fair trade network of
handcraft cooperatives in Rwanda. We are a non-profit making organization. The
membership is open to all producer groups registered in any form

, but committed
to the promotion of the fair trade Principles.

POSITION:
HANDCRAFT OFFICER
RWAFAT
is looking for a proactive, hands-on, motivated handcraft officer to work
directly with our network of fair trade producers spread across the country.
The
position is on a full-time basis for a maximum period of 2 years with a
probation period. You will be based in Northern or Western Province near the
main cooperatives you will be working with and report directly to the project
manager.
Key
Tasks and Responsibilities
Coordination
and follow-up of all handcraft related activities
  • Coordination
    and follow-up of handcraft training activities, marketing activities,
    trade shows and exhibitions and RWAFAT online shop.
  • Coordinate,
    follow-up and built the handcraft membership of RWAFAT
  • Built
    and strengthen the network of RWAFAT in the handcraft sector
  • Continuously
    learn, improve skills and knowledge about the fair trade sector
  • Coordination
    and follow-up of all learning, monitoring and evaluation (LM&E)
    activities in our handcraft projects
  • Assist
    in the preparation of reports of handcraft activities for internal use and
    donors.
    • Actively
      pursue and built a network of peers and potential donors in the handcraft
      sector in Rwanda
    • Assist
      in the preparation of funding applications related to the activities of
      RWAFAT in the handcraft sector
Personal
Attributes:
  1. Accept
    to be based in Northern or Western Province near major cooperatives,
    members of RWAFAT
  2. To
    have the ability to write reports in Kinyarwanda, English and French
  3. Willing
    to travel for working duty in Rwanda
  4. Ability
    to organize own schedule and plan regular field visits as appropriate
  5. High
    degree of self-motivation and passion to succeed
  6. Interest
    in fair trade principles
  7. Strong
    empathy for and ability to work with poor communities
  8. Must
    have an ability to reach targets within timeline
Minimum
Qualification & Experience:
  • Minimum
    Bachelors Degree in the fields of rural / community development
  • Having
    trained adult trainers (Andragogy) would be an addition
  • Preferably
    a minimum of 3 years working experience with the support of certificates
    of services rendered
