The Role and Your Responsibilities

The School is seeking to appoint three (3) Lectures within the disciplines of
Environmental Chemistry, Atmospheric Chemistry and Soil Chemistry.

The Lecturer is expected to contribute to the teaching and research activities
of the School within the relevant discipline. More specifically, the Lecturer
is responsible for carrying out teaching activities within undergraduate,
Masters and Graduate Diploma programs and for maintaining and advancing their
scholarly, research and/or professional capabilities. The Lecturer is also
expected to actively promote the program by establishing and maintaining
memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional
communities. The Lecturer is expected to work collaboratively and collegially
with fellow academics within the teaching team, and update colleagues and
students on developments in their subject area or specialisation. The Lecturer
may be responsible for course coordination.

In the 2015 ERA (Excellence in Research Assessment) exercise, RMIT was rated 5
– ‘Well Above World Standard’ in Environmental Science and Management. The
successful applicant is encouraged to become involved in the key School
research centre: EnSuRe (Environmental Sustainability & Remediation); and
also with one or more of RMIT University’s Enabling Capability Platforms, as
appropriate to the applicant’s expertise/interest.

Skills & Experience Required

You will have demonstrated expertise in Environmental Chemistry, Atmospheric
Chemistry or Soil Chemistry. You will also have the ability to teach into core
courses of Environmental Science programs (including soil chemistry or
atmospheric chemistry or natural processes) for undergraduate and/or
post-graduate levels, including via online delivery, and the ability to produce
high quality curriculum or program materials using innovative approaches to
course delivery and student-centered learning that successfully exploits new
technologies. Furthermore, your capacity to work effectively with and to
negotiate sensitively with students especially on issues related to effective
learning will be essential to your success in this role.
