Interpreter Position – Quadra Salmon Eco Centre

Position: an interpreter/environmental educator for the Quadra Island
Salmon Enhancement Society EcoCentre. The EcoCentre provides a variety
of educational displays and interactive activities focused on salmon
and the healthy watersheds necessary for their survival.
This contract position is for 10-weeks: late June through August 2015,
for 30 hours per week (5 days/week, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm) at $13.50 per
hour.
No experience is necessary as training and supervision will be provided.
Applicants are evaluated according to the following criteria:
• Should be a creative and enthusiastic communicator, with a strong
interest in natural history and conservation. Preferably should have
local knowledge of Quadra and/or the Discovery Islands.
• Be comfortable and motivated when working alone in a rural setting.
• Be willing to take on a range of tasks in support of maintaining and
developing the EcoCentre and grounds and educational programming.
• Have a reliable form of transportation (the Eco Centre is
approximately 6km from Heriot Bay).
• As this position is HRDC funded, applicants also need to be between
15 and 30 years of age, have been registered as a full-time student
this last academic year, and be returning to school on a full-time
basis in the next academic year.
