PROVISION
OF SERVICES IN NUTRITION AND RENEWABLE ENERGY SENSITIZATION AND BUSINESS
PARTNERSHIP CREATION (CONTIGENT ON DONOR FUNDING)
SNV
the Netherlands Development Organization has been working in Rwanda for more
than 30 years to improve people’s livelihoods by strengthening the capacities
of public and private sector organizations. SNV works in full alignment with
Rwanda’s development agenda. It does so by helping to realize the national
development goals in three sectors: Agriculture; Renewable energy; and Water,
Sanitation and Hygiene.
SNV
is seeking a qualified consultant o

r local organisation that can support the
implementation of a pilot project that aims to develop concrete activities in
Nutrition and Renewable energy technologies linkages (Improved Cook Stoves –
ICS and solar lamps).
It is expected that the project will increase the quality of life and promote
better use of ICS and solar technologies in the country, with a strong
participation of the private sector and direct contribution to Nutrition
objectives set by GoR and developing partners.The service provider is
anticipated to be an integral team member of the SNV Renewable Energy team, and
will participate in a number of meetings with our Donor and our implementing
partners for purposes of planning and implementation.

The
service provider will provide the outputs listed hereunder in approximately 13
districts.
i.    To sensitize and create awareness on the importance of
having an improved cook stove and healthy cooking practices as well as the use
of solar lighting solutions in rural households daily domestic activities.
ii.    To contribute to the creation and development of business
partnerships between potential rural retailers and solar/ICS companies, for
further penetration of the technologies and income generation.
Expected activities to be done in close coordination with SNV team:
iii.    Develop a work plan.
iv.    Develop the content for the material to be used, linking
between Nutrition practices and the use of improved cook stoves as well as
clean lighting (solar).
v.    Develop the content for the material to be used in motivating
the creation of business partnerships between potential retailers and RET
companies.
vi.    Coordinate and develop 2 workshops of approx. 2 days each
for the mentioned trainings in approx. 13 locations country wide. It is
expected that 1 workshop will be for sensitization and 1 workshop will be for
business partnership creation.
vii.    Participate in planning meetings with SNV and
implementing partners.
viii.    Have frequent field visits to the districts.
ix.    Follow up the establishment of partnerships with solar
companies and potential retailers.
x.    Regular reports on the implementation status.
Competency
and Expertise Requirements
Education: Degree in Nutrition related field.
Required
competences

–    Strong knowledge in Nutrition related aspects at household
level.
–    Knowledge of dietary and food condition in rural areas.
– Experience in training and coaching.
– Experience training material development (print and audio visual).
– Experience awareness creation materials to be distributed in public places,
like schools, health centers and others.
– Experience to work with private sector development.
– Experience in working with improved cook stoves and solar lamps (advantage).
Starting
date: as soon as possible

Expected deliverables
1.
Development of the materials content used in the trainings/sensitization
workshops.
2. Development of 2 workshops per selected district (13 districts).
a.    1 workshop in sensitization and awareness creation on the
linkages and importance of Nutrition and Renewable energy technologies (ICS and
Solar lamps)
b.    1 workshop to motivate local selected entrepreneurs to
become ICS and solar lamps retailers.
3. Support on the follow-up of partnership building between new retailers and
companies.

Bid proposal submission
The
service provider is required to send a complete company profile plus a
technical and
financial proposals.
The technical proposal must specify:
– Preliminary proposed description of the content for the
training/sensitization materials (separately for creation of awareness and for
the business/entrepreneurship development).
– Preferred selection of materials to be used in the trainings.
–    Proposed program of the training. – Tentative work plan.
The financial proposal needs to indicate the expected honorariums per day only.
Note: Travel allowance,
daily allowance and participants’ costs (in case of workshops) will be provided
according to SNV regulations directly.
Consultant will be fully responsible for dealing with the matter of any
applicable taxes on the income from this consultancy work.
