Your Challenge:

With appropriate
direction from the Executive in Charge of Interactive, you must work and adhere
to CBC interactive policies, practices and standards. Initiative and
independent judgement are required.  There is often a requirement to
co-ordinate the activities of others.

Working on an array
of tasks across Kids’ CBC projects, while focusing on Kids’ CBC 2 (kidscbc.ca),
you will:

  • Populate
    the site with fresh and updated content, including but not limited to blog
    posts, videos, interactive activities, games and quizzes
  • Develop
    the editorial vision in conjunction with interactive and broadcast
    executives
  • Write
    content for the site on a daily and/or weekly basis, including headlines,
    cutlines, blog posts, videos and promotions; source appropriate photos
    where necessary
  • Manage
    freelance contributors to ensure deadlines are met, and provide editorial
    feedback on submissions
  • Maintain
    a budget for freelance contributors
  • Publish
    content (text, video, photos) online using a content management system
    (CMS)
  • Manage
    and maintain the Product Roadmap
  • Produce
    projects in collaboration with designers and developers
  • Collaborate
    with internal and external designers, programmers, execs and other
    producers to develop concepts for internally produced games and activities
    (web/mobile)
  • Contribute
    to interactive game scripts, voice over scripts, etc
  • Build
    and maintain effective working relationships with internal departments
  • Create
    and update regular stats reports, including success measurement
  • Liase
    with TV team to update and promote content (events, submissions, schedule,
    new shows)
  • Partner
    with outreach team to maintain an active social media presence (Facebook,
    Twitter, YouTube)

Qualifications

You possess the following:
  • Excellent
    writer and editor, with the ability to generate editorial and multimedia
    content consistently on demand for the following audiences: preschool
    (aged 2-6) and school aged (6 to 11)
  • Minimum
    5 years relevant editorial and interactive experience with exposure to
    digital practices and a broadcast environment
  • Proficient
    in MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite with some HTML, CSS, FTP experience.
    Video editing experience a plus
  • Thorough
    understanding and awareness of Kids’ CBC environment, with an ability to
    show an exceptional grasp of style and voice
  • Experience
    using Omniture SiteCatalyst and/or Google Analytics
  • Proficient
    with social media tools, such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube
  • Familiarity
    with new and emerging technologies and platforms, particularly as they
    relate to interactive and television
  • Excellent
    interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
  • Ability
    to take on and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Flexible
    and multi-task oriented regarding work arrangements
  • Excellent
    organization skills
