Location: Markdale, Ontario
Position Definition and details:
• This position is to provide tasks that develops skills with common
carpentry tools, techniques and natural/green materials.
• position is considered a volunteer po
sition.
• pace of work is to be driven by skill building, quality of results
with the goal to develop proficient techniques
• time allotment for personal development (ie. research)
• weekly review facilitated by Talia Fletcher
Expectations:
• 6-8 hour work days
• 40 hour/week for extended stays (ebb & flow to the work schedule)
• you will be responsible for your own meals with access to the camper
stove at the building site for heating needs at lunch break (see below
for more about food)
Compensations:
• rooming accommodations in the private humble cabin on the premises
(includes cookware, propane stove, ice box food storage & mattress)
• carpooling into town for errands
• access to Preserving Earth Library (Permaculture resources)
• in lieu of your boarding, a cash allowance would be negotiated for
your grocery needs
Requirements:
• Steel toe boots (CSA certified)
• Work gloves (2 pairs)
• Safety eyewear
• Durable work clothes
• Flashlight

• Foundation Parging and prep
• Earthen Floor install (basement)
• Wall Truss construction
• Window and Door bucks/framing
• Site housekeeping
• Steel roofing
• Straw Bale stacking
• Timber Framing handling and raising
• Plastering
• Window & Door installs
Peripheral Projects (Research, design and build):
• Straw Bale compressor
• Cabinet/counter Battery bank enclosure
• Cabin improvements (self-directed)
