architecture team in support of our operations.

Technology Architect
Reporting to the
Director of Architecture, the Infrastructure Technology Architect is
responsible for w
orking closely and in collaboration with the Technical
Services team, applying IT architecture methods across a diverse portfolio of
solutions that enable all aspects of Postmedia’s advertising and publishing business.
The Architect facilitates a complete architecture lifecycle using a formalized
method from inception through to implementation and ongoing
sustainment/growth. This individual will play a constructive role on
projects and planning initiatives for all aspects of the IT infrastructure,
which is distributed across multiple data centers locally and nationally.
Responsibilities
include:
•Maintain a very
good understanding of the business, ensuring that existing and new
architectures are aligned with organizational goals, objectives, policies and
standards;
•Interpret and translate business needs (functional and non-functional) into
technical specifications and designs;
•Lead the technology architecture process and oversee the implementation of
complex solutions, including a mix of legacy and modern components;
•Provide technical expertise and direction to management and implementation
teams;
•Coordinate the development of standards and procedures within the technology
architecture domain;
•Stay current with trends, emerging and existing technologies relevant to the
company’s current and potential needs;
•Develop and maintain frameworks for capacity planning, forecasting,
sustainment and licensing compliance;
•Develop test plans to check non-functional qualities of a system, such as
performance and reliability, report findings and make recommendations for
improvement;
•Develop, document and communicate plans for investing in systems and
platforms, including analysis of cost reduction and strategic growth opportunities.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s or
Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred;
•Minimum seven (7) years of relevant architecture experience including planning
and designing server, storage and network infrastructure for virtualized
environments;
•Familiarity or experience in as many of the following areas as possible:
•Datacenters, virtualization, servers and network
•IAAS and other cloud hosting models
•Enterprise platforms, web, database and middleware
•Enterprise networks, Wi-Fi, telephony and video
•End user, cloud, mobile and collaboration
Familiarity or experience with the majority of the following:
•Infrastructure
transformations and migrations
•Multiple environments, including: Windows, Linux, MacOS
•Virtualization of servers and desktops (VMware, Citrix)
•Database technologies: Oracle and SQL Server
•Storage technologies: SAN, NAS, DAS
•Cisco networking, MPLS, VOIP, WANs
•Infrastructure roadmaps
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal);
•Ability to develop methods and plans for solving new and emerging technology
problems;
•Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities;
•Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
